Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the Pray Together app (“the app”) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The app is operated by roblesprayerapp (“we”, “us”). Questions or requests: support@praytogethersupport.com.
The short version
- All prayers and scripture are free, with or without an account.
- You can use the app without an account. Most of what you do then stays on your device.
- With an account, we store what you choose to sync: your profile, custom prayers, preferences, and, only if you back them up, your voice recordings.
- We use analytics to understand how the app is used. We do not show ads and we do not sell your information.
- You can delete your account and its cloud data at any time from inside the app.
Information you provide
Account and profile
If you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider; we never see them. You choose a username, and you can add a profile photo and a short bio.
Visible to other people: your username, profile photo, and bio can be seen by other signed-in users (for example, when they search for friends). Your profile photo is stored at a web address that anyone with the link can open.
Your religion and prayer choices
You choose a primary religion, a prayer language, and a text-to-speech voice. When you are signed in, these preferences are saved to your account so they follow you to other devices. Your choice of religion and the prayers you use can reveal your religious beliefs, which some laws treat as sensitive information. See “Religious beliefs” below for how we handle it.
Custom prayers
Prayers you write are stored on your device and, when you are signed in, saved to your account.
Voice recordings
Recordings of your voice are stored on your device. They are uploaded to our servers only if you choose to back them up, which is part of the Pray Together Plus subscription. The names you give your voices are saved to your account when you are signed in. Signing out removes recordings from the device; backed-up recordings stay in your account and can be restored when you sign in again.
Friends, sharing, and safety
If you use social features, we store your friend requests and friendships, recordings you send to friends (and any message you add), the users you block, and reports you submit. A report includes the reason, any details you write, and the usernames of both the reporter and the reported person at that time. We review reports to keep the community safe.
Prayer activity
When you are signed in, we record the dates on which you complete a prayer, to show your prayer streak.
Kept only on your device
Your prayer intentions, daily reminder settings, and anything you type into the Feedback / Prayer Request form stay on your device and are not sent to us. Daily reminders are scheduled locally by your device.
Device permissions
- Microphone: used only while you are recording a prayer or dictating a custom prayer.
- Speech recognition: when you dictate a custom prayer, your device’s speech recognition service (provided by Apple or Google) converts your voice to text. It may send the audio to Apple or Google for processing under their privacy policies. We do not receive that audio.
- Photos: used only to let you pick a profile photo. We receive only the photo you choose.
- Notifications: used only for the daily reminders you turn on.
You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings.
Information collected automatically
We use an analytics service to understand how the app is used and to improve it. It collects:
- the screens you view and the buttons you tap;
- when the app is opened, backgrounded, or closed;
- in-app actions, such as starting or completing a prayer, creating a voice, or sending a friend request, including identifiers of the prayer, voice, recording, or account involved. Some of these actions include the religion associated with them;
- device and app details, such as device model, operating system, app version, language, and time zone;
- your IP address, which the analytics service may use to estimate your general location (such as country or city).
Analytics are linked to a random identifier. After you sign in, they are also linked to your account ID and username. We do not collect your advertising identifier, we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we do not record your screen.
Purchases
Pray Together Plus is purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play, which handle payment. We never see your card or payment details. We use RevenueCat to confirm your subscription status. It receives your account ID and purchase information (such as the product, purchase and renewal dates, and status). We store whether your account has an active subscription and when it expires.
How we use information
- To provide the app’s features: prayers, playback, recording, sync, backup, and friends.
- To keep your account secure and send account emails, such as email verification and password reset.
- To keep the community safe, including reviewing reports and enforcing blocks.
- To provide and verify subscriptions.
- To understand how the app is used and improve it.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it.
Religious beliefs
We use your chosen religion and the prayers you use only to show you the right content, to sync your preferences, and to understand, in aggregate, how the app is used, including in our analytics. We never use this information for advertising and never sell it. By choosing a religion in the app, you agree to this use. You can change your religion at any time, or delete your account to remove it from our servers.
Who we share information with
We share information only as needed to run the app, with service providers that process it on our behalf:
- Supabase: account sign-in, database, and file storage.
- PostHog: analytics.
- RevenueCat: subscription management.
- Resend: delivery of account emails.
- Apple and Google: app distribution, payments, and, if you use dictation, speech recognition.
Other users see what the features are designed to show them: your public profile, and recordings you choose to send them. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or others.
Where your information is stored
Our service providers store and process information in the United States. If you use the app from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
How long we keep information
- Account data is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, your account, profile, synced data, and backed-up recordings are deleted from our servers.
- If your subscription ends, recordings you already backed up stay in your account until you delete them or your account.
- Reports other users filed about you may be kept for safety review, with your username at the time, even after you delete your account.
- Analytics data is kept for a limited period under our analytics provider’s retention settings. You can ask us to delete analytics data linked to your account.
- Information stored only on your device stays there until you delete it or the app.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile in the app at any time.
- Delete your account in the app: Options → Account → Delete Account. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings.
- Choose whether each recording is backed up.
- Turn device permissions and reminders on or off in your device settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict how it is used, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, email support@praytogethersupport.com. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may also complain to your local data protection authority. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Security
Information is encrypted in transit. Access to your data on our servers is restricted to your own account, except where a feature shares it (such as a recording you send to a friend). Backed-up recordings are stored privately. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. If the changes are significant, we will also tell you in the app.
